Our Purim Weekend

For Jewish folks, Sunday was Purim, the holiday which comes from the book of Esther. For those who are familiar with Esther and for those who are not, Esther, through a series of divine circumstances, and in obedience to her uncle, is able to go before the king and plead for the Jewish people (an edict that decreed their annihilation had just been passed). Upon going before the king, she wins his favor and she and her uncle are able to write a new edict declaring the right for the Jewish people to defend themselves. They celebrate their victory by feasting, and sending gifts. “20. And Mordecai recorded these things and sent letters to all the Jews who were in all the provinces of King Ahasuerus, both near and far, 21. obliging them to keep the fourteenth day of the month Adar and also the fifteenth day of the same, year by year, 22. as the days on which the Jews got relief from their enemies, and as the month that had been turned for them from sorrow into gladness and from mourning into a holiday; that they should make them days of feasting and gladness, days for sending gifts of food to one another and gifts to the poor.” (Esther 9:20-22)
So that’s a bit about Purim!

Nathan and I chose to spend the long weekend in Eilat (the trip was a surprise from hubby!) It was beautiful…all of it. The drive down there we were amazed by the magnificence of the desert. It truly has a beauty of its own. The Red Sea was incredible with its vibrant and plentiful wildlife, we were even able to go snorkeling! (A first for both of us!) It truly was a refreshing time we were able to share. We couldn’t stop talking about how much fun it was…I’m thankful for my husband, with whom I am able to take part in all of these adventures. He is one amazing man! Praise God from Whom all blessings flow.
