We had a big
doctor’s appointment today, and now we’ve got some big news for all our friends! We are pleased to announce that in
December we will be welcoming a son into our family.
Samuel Judson Douthit
We chose his first name to be Samuel. If you’ve never read the account of Samuel’s birth and the
response of his mother in 1 Samuel 1 and 2, we invite you to here. We chose the
name Samuel because of the meaning of the name, which is something like, “God
heard.” We have been praying and groaning for this child, and know that many of
our friends have too. We will rejoice in his birth by knowing that God heard
our prayer and has granted us a son. We pray that he will be transformed by God’s
grace into a man of God, dedicating his life to His service, as we will strive
to entrust him to the hands of God as well.
We chose the name Judson,
which will be the name we call him, because of the impact the life of Adoniram Judson and his family has had on our lives. Between the two of us we have read
accounts of both Mr. Judson and his wives (two of which he outlived) and have
been encouraged and spurred on by their perseverance in the midst of trials and
their faithfulness in proclaiming the gospel where Christ had not been named.
We praise the Lord
for these lives and pray our son, Judson,
will live his life according to the
legacies of his namesakes.
