"Empire State of Mind"

This post is a bit belated, but better late than never:) Many know that we are in the midst of the medical school process now. We have had several interviews and thus far, one acceptance (praise Him!). One of our interviews was in New York. The interview was at Columbia Medical School, but the program we are actually applying for is in Israel. It's a great opportunity because the focus is on international health, and many of the electives are in places that teach students how to give medical assistance with limited resources. We thought it would be a "perfect" match due to the fact that we want to be in one of those places one day...meeting physical needs in order that we may have an opportunity to meet spiritual needs. As Nate so eloquently puts it, "It's just a means to tell people about Jesus!" Now I put quotes around perfect because, while I think this program would be perfect....ultimately wherever He leads us is the "prefect" place for us....the place where we can bring Him the greatest glory:) So anyway...to make a long story even longer...that's why we took a trip to New York. The trip was so wonderful! We got there on Saturday and ate some lunch, dropped our stuff off and headed to Time's Square. We went to eat dinner at Ellen's where the waiters and waitresses sing like they're on Broadway (it was SO fun!) After that we went to see Wicked which was great! Sunday we were able to go and visit fellow brothers and sisters at their fellowship in Brooklyn. It was very encouraging to see what the Lord is doing in their new church plant....and to hear the teaching. Upon their recommendation, we went to Grimaldi's Pizza for lunch and it was the BEST pizza we have ever eaten! After that we walked down to the pier and got some ice cream:) We spent that afternoon in the city and even went ice skating! On Monday morning we got up and I headed off to the airport in a cab (myself....you can be proud!) And Nate went to his interview. He said the interviews went well...they were very different than the interviews in he South! We headed out that afternoon and spent the remainder of Thanksgiving week with our families:) We are supposed to be hearing back with this next week whether or not we were accepted. Keep us in your prayers as we decide...it will be a difficult decision. For your enjoyment....here are some pictures!
